Homemaking- Cleaning Schedule

Today I want to talk about homemaking and being a housewife. See there are many stay at home mom blogs, new mom, and even house making ones but there is a big lack of new wife blogs.  For that reason along with my recipes and crafting I want this to be a place that new wives can come to and relate to what is going on in my life and know they are not alone.

When we decided to make the move to Conway for Hubby’s job I wasn’t sure when or if I would start work. Well after two weeks I can say going to work may be the easier route! I felt that I was being called to be a housewife and take care of my husband and home, and I still think I am but not right away.

Being a Proverbs 31 woman was, to me, the definition of what I should do if I were going to stay home so I tried and did well for at least two days. I kept myself busy and took care of anything that needed to be done. But then the “she does not eat the bread of idleness” part started to fall through.  I’m pretty sure binge watching Scandal on Netflix would count as idle, at least everything I needed to do was done for the day.  I’ve always had a problem of a 5 minute brake turning into an hour sitting watching something thinking I’ll get up at the next commercial. I can say now with certainty that this will be one of my biggest struggles. I will post more about the Proverbs 31 woman in the coming weeks.

I am proud to say that every day I have done my cleaning tasks that I have assigned to it. I have realized that as much as I thought I would be fine cleaning I was wrong; about day 8 I was tired of it. I do not mind doing it though 15-20 minutes a day to clean up the house and keep it clean for when hubby comes home is a very small amount of the day.  My first day of being home while he was at work I wanted to get started the right way and get a cleaning routine down. The bathrooms really needed to be done because they apparently did not go through the house and clean well before we moved in. I went to Pinterest to find a cleaning schedule and none of them really fit what I wanted. I took a few different ideas and made my own.
I want to share it with you all to give you an idea or starting point for your own list. This one is custom to our house but you can easily adjust it for yourself. Upstairs day can be used for the bedrooms if you have a one story house, and I added the guest room/ office to laundry day.

This list has helped me feel like I am sticking to a schedule while I’m staying home. I hope it gives you a starting point on making a cleaning schedule. A few minutes a day makes the daunting task of keeping a house clean seem much more manageable.

As always I love feedback so leave a comment if you have any questions or suggestions for cleaning or how to not be idle. Have a great weekend!
