Prayer is so crucial to our relationship with God and for our marriages. It is the way we can speak directly to God, the way we can ask him for help, seek his will, and know that he cares about us and loves us. He wants your marriage to serve him, to be good, and something that shows his love to the world. For your marriage to be its strongest I believe that we should be praying for our husbands and our marriage.
I've talked about praying for your husband some here before and even praying with your husband. I want to talk more today about the importance of a praying wife. A wife can either build up or destroy her husband in her words, actions and even thoughts. She needs to be intentional in building him up in all areas and prayer can make a world of difference in this.
Why is it important to pray as a wife?
- You are fighting for your marriage.
- For it to be stronger, more united, to serve God.
- You are thinking about what your husband needs. God knows what he needs and is the only one who can get him to that place.
- You are the most qualified person to pray for your husband. No one knows him inside and out better than you. The two of you are united as one and no one else can stand before God the way you can to pray for him. So if you don't who will?
Why your marriage needs prayer.
Even if your marriage is in the most perfect happy place, it still needs to be prayed over. There is always something that will want to break your marriage, so that it cannot show the loving relationship that is Christ and his church. It is a battleground that you must always be ready to fight on. Here are a few things to pray about for your marriage.
- Good communication- that you can talk and listen to each other
- Grace- that the two of you can extend each other grace.
- Friendship- that you are friends with your spouse
- Intimacy- that you will continue to have intimacy with one another
- Oneness- you stay strong in unity and togetherness
- Strength-your relationship stays strong Trust- you have trust in one another and that trust is not misplaced.
- Understanding- you will have an understanding of each others actions
- Submission- you show submission to each other in all aspects.
- Love- that your love grows and deepens
- Health- that you are both in good health and your marriage is healthy.
Pray for your husband and marriage but don't forget to pray for you. Yes pray for you as a wife. Change in your marriage should first come from within. Your heart may need changed before anything can be different in your marriage, pray and ask God to help you in these areas. So that you can be a better wife and serve God better.
Some Prayers for marriage.
Prayer for your husband
The Unveiled Wife has a wonderful email marriage prayer ever day that you can sign up for by clicking on the last two pictures. The second picture above leads to her archived prayers of the day page, she has so many great ones, I could go on for days. I really love her site and prayers for husbands and marriage.
Do you pray often for your marriage and husband? Or do you try really hard to remember every day but still only do it some days? The second one is me, I know the importance and believe so strongly in prayer but I seem to forget some days. That is ok though because at least it is on my mind and when I do remember I send up that prayer and thank God for his grace and love, and for my marriage and amazing husband he gave me.
What do you pray about your marriage? I would love to here from you in the comments or on Facebook!
