I got my new camera for Christmas and I was so excited and started messing with light settings and got some funky looking pictures. Then I didn't know where to reset them to get back to a normal image. I knew I needed to find someone to teach me what the heck those numbers mean.
I knew that Craftsy had online classes that covered a lot of topics, so I searched their photography classes. I found they have quite a few classes on different types of photography. I decided that I needed the basic photography class to get a good foundation. Craftsy was generous and let me try the class out for free in turn for a review.

Rick Allred's class the Basics of Digital Photography was the perfect beginners class. He shows what he is talking about through taking pictures and showing the difference between settings. Which is great if you are a visual learner like me. There were 9 lessons in this particular class each going over a specific aspect of the settings and composing the image. I have learned a lot from this class and can't wait to take the Food Photography
Things I enjoyed about Craftsy.

  • You can watch the lessons at your own pace anytime.
  • Once you purchase the class you have it forever.
  • The discussion board runs all the time, you can see past questions and answers.
  • The teacher answers your questions.
  • They have a wide variety of classes, from cooking to woodworking and everything in between.
  • The community is really kind. In the class discussion, there is always someone willing to help you figure it out.

  1. I'm sure I could use the photography class. But cake decorating would probably lots of fun.
