Hey guys I wanted to write today a little about what has
been up the last couple weeks around here. Not a ton but some fun things to
share.
The biggest new thing is I have started subbing. I had been
waiting since July for all of my background checks to clear, well really in
August all but one was done and it took this long to get it figured out thanks
to the school district. Anyways I got to start last Friday.
I have now done 3 days and I am glad and relieved to say that I really enjoy it. My first day was with second graders and they were an exceptional class and all well behaved, I mean for the fact they had a sub. They listened and did their work, I think this says a lot about their teacher. My second day was fun but a little harder I was an aid with a preschool class, this should have been my easiest seeing as I work with 1 year olds regularly at a preschool. Well these kids and this school did things in a way that was unfamiliar to me and it took me a bit to adjust. Overall the day went ok, I didn’t lose any kids so I will count it as a success.
I was excited for my third time it was with a group of 1st graders, I thought the day went more along the lines of the first day. I was wrong, they were the class that always gives the sub a hard time because they think they can. Well I won’t say I kept them under control all day because it didn’t happen that way. But by the end of the day all their work was done, a large group of them got to miss 5 minutes of recess and another group got checks and a note written to the teacher about them. And before they left they sat in silence and got a lesson in why they should not be crazy when their teacher is not there and how she will not like the report she gets. I will say they all did look sorry for the way they behaved. Lesson of the day for me I need to rethink my morning speech on who I am and add in a lot more behavior expectations. The funny thing is even when they were driving me insane I was able to keep control and I still was enjoying it.

I was more afraid that I would hate it then that I would be
bad at it. You can’t really mess up too badly when your subbing you get the
work done the teacher left and the way the day goes really is on you and how
you handle it. I just didn’t want to
hate it and have to start looking for something to do again. But gladly it is
fun, hard and exhausting, but its fun. These kids all have something different
to teach me.
I spent Wednesday baking away. I made some yummy white bread
that I was introduced to a couple years ago in my Intro to Baking class. It is
soft, moist with a little sweet note. It typically would be done in two loaf
pans but I realized I only had one so I made two round loaves and it worked out
fine, just makes odd sandwich slices.
I need to make this again and take pictures so I can share with you. It really is one of my favorite breads. |
I also made an apple
cake that Hubby’s mom send me, he had even asked for it. It looked like I
burned it but I didn’t it just looks that way, but it tastes awesome!!!!
I was promised this is how it's suppose to look, and then Hubby said it was great so I must have done it right. It really does taste awesome! |
Saturday we went to Gotham’s in Scott, Ar famous for their
Hubcap burgers. This building is over a
hundred years old and is pretty neat when you walk in. The walls have a ton of
stuff on them all old and pieces of history.
It was pretty cool. We got corn fritters. I’m telling you
guys that these were some of the best I had, they were creamy, crunchy, hot and
corny! Perfection!
I'm telling you these things were worth the drive!! |
I got a regular cheeseburger with fries. It was good,
seasoned well. The French fries were good as well seasoned with salt and pepper
only but were fried great!
The hubcap burger consists of a pound of meat!! Hubby got
one and ate almost all of it I was impressed. That is a lot of food!
Don't be fooled by my bad camera angle the thing is much bigger. |
Tesla loves to look out the open window...standing or sitting would be to hard though so she chooses to lay/stand on the window. She also likes to bark at nothing or maybe its tiny things flying in the air idk but she sure likes to bark at the window too.
I hope you all have had a good weekend and start to your week, Maybe eventually fall will come and stay and I can start sharing some of my favorite soup and comfort foods with you.
