Remake Burger King Chicken Fries

In our house I cook during the week and Hubby gets to cook on the weekends, we do this because we both love to cook and this way we both get some time to do so. Cooking is one of our ways to escape the ins and outs of life and just take a break and make something to enjoy.  Last weekend Hubby found a video on how to make chicken fries like Burger King does and decided he wanted to make them, so Sunday we had these awesome chicken ‘fries’.

The video called for ground chicken which is not easy to find, at least around here and we don’t have a grinder so we went with chicken tenders and they were just as well. The chicken is coated in a chicken fry batter mix, eggs, and Shake and Bake, then frozen for two hours, and fried to delicious goodness.

Here is a picture log of what he did, taken with his new Galaxy S5 which has an amazing camera!

Breading Station

Ready to go into the freezer

He used our new cast iron skillet to fry them in

Frying those pretty things

Freezing helped keep the coating on

All the tenders fried, some of them got dark faster and weren't
done in the center so he put them into the oven for a little bit
at 350 F make sure they are 165 in the center.
He cooked up some french fries, Wal-Mart Seasoned Fries, are our favorite. He served up his version of chicken fries and french fries in some little dinner baskets and we watched a movie to finish off our lazy Sunday.
YUMMY!!!
Note: the freezing step is probably only necessary if using the ground chicken that is done in the video, but it does help with the breading staying on while frying, and it does not affect the cooking method.

I hope you give this a try they taste awesome and have the same breading flavor as Burger King. I would love to hear from you so leave a comment and I'll be sure to reply.
